Fairfax Futures 2010 Leadership Forum brought together the business, academic and public sectors throughout the Greater Washington region to explore the importance of infusing math and science into early childhood education and it’s impact on long term workforce development issues. The event sponsored by Capital One and held at it's corporate headquarters in McLean, VA saw 200 participants gathered to discuss issues surrounding STEM eduction and included remarks from Assistant Secretary Joan Lombardi and former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison.
In May 2011, nearly 400 elementary school teachers, child care professionals and child care center staff attended the seventh School Readiness Symposium, held on the campus of George Mason
University in Fairfax, VA. The annual event is cosponsored by Fairfax Futures, the Fairfax County Office for Children, and Fairfax County Public Schools, and is made possible by a generous grant
