About Fairfax Futures - History

HISTORY

Fairfax Futures was launched in June 2004 at the Early Learning Is Good Business Summit to raise awareness and build support for quality early childhood education and school readiness for Fairfax County's youngest children.

Through its School Readiness Network, Fairfax Futures has partnered with Fairfax County's Department of Family Services Office for Children, Fairfax County Public Schools, and a growing number of corporations, foundations, public agencies, community organizations and early childhood education programs to highlight the importance of school readiness as essential to the continued strength of our community.

Funds raised help to support the professional development of child care providers who partner with parents to ensure children's healthy social, emotional, physical and intellectual development and readiness for school. Through its annual school readiness symposiumnewsletter and outreach activities, Fairfax Futures fosters collaboration between child care, preschool and elementary school teachers and administrators and the sharing of best practices to support young children's school readiness throughout the county.

In addition, Fairfax Futures continues to engage area companies, chambers of commerce, policymakers and other community leaders to ensure that all of our county's young children have access to quality early education. Beginning in 2007, Fairfax Futures has held an annual School Readiness Leadership Forum that brings together approximately 150 business, government and education leaders for a dialogue about issues related to early education and school readiness as a vital community investment.

Fairfax Futures is a nonprofit, charitable organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowable by law.
